1/4" Compression End Mill
Tungsten Carbide with Nano Blue Coating
Overview
This 1/4" compression end mill is designed to deliver clean, chip-free edges on both the top and bottom surfaces of sheet goods when used with CNC spindle motors. The compression geometry combines up-cut and down-cut flutes, pulling fibers inward to eliminate tear-out on laminated materials.
Manufactured from solid tungsten carbide and finished with a Nano Blue coating, this bit is optimized for high-speed spindle use where consistent RPM and rigidity matter.
Why Use This Bit
-
Clean top and bottom edges in a single operation
-
Excellent performance with CNC spindles and VFD-controlled systems
-
Nano Blue coating reduces heat and friction
-
Longer tool life compared to uncoated bits
-
Stable cutting with reduced chatter at higher RPMs
Spindle RPM & Feed Guidance
These are conservative starting points for spindle-driven CNC machines:
-
RPM: 16,000 – 18,000
-
Feed Rate: 120 – 180 IPM
-
Plunge Rate: 40 – 60 IPM
For best results, run passes deep enough to fully engage the compression zone. Shallow passes will behave like a standard up-cut or down-cut and will not provide clean edges on both faces.
Best Applications
-
Plywood
-
MDF
-
Laminated sheet goods
-
Veneered panels
Specifications

Notes
-
Compression bits perform best at full or near-full material thickness
-
Proper dust collection improves cut quality and tool life
-
Always verify feeds and speeds for your machine rigidity and material
