1/4" Down-Cut End Mill
Tungsten Carbide with Nano Blue Coating
Overview
This 1/4" down-cut end mill is designed to push chips downward into the material, producing an exceptionally clean top surface. It’s the go-to choice when edge quality on the top face matters more than chip evacuation.
Manufactured from solid tungsten carbide and finished with a Nano Blue coating, this bit performs best on CNC machines equipped with spindles capable of maintaining consistent RPM under load.
Why Use This Bit
-
Leaves a very clean top surface with minimal tear-out
-
Ideal for visible edges and final passes
-
Nano Blue coating improves heat resistance and tool life
-
Excellent control on plywood and veneered materials
-
Best used with good dust collection and conservative depths
Spindle RPM & Feed Guidance
Down-cut tools trap chips, so lighter passes are important:
-
RPM: 16,000 – 20,000
-
Feed Rate: 120 – 200 IPM
-
Plunge Rate: 40 – 60 IPM
Avoid aggressive depth of cut. Shallow passes and steady feed rates prevent heat buildup and chip packing.
Best Applications
-
Plywood and veneered plywood
-
MDF
-
Hardwood
-
Softwood
-
Laminated materials
Specifications

Notes
-
Not ideal for deep pocketing due to chip evacuation limits
-
Use dust collection to prevent chip buildup
-
For through-cuts, consider pairing with an up-cut or compression bit depending on material
